2020 has not been the year we had imagined. Despite disruptions, we have found strength in community and developed an impetus for innovation. But this is not the case everywhere.
For many people, looking beyond ‘tomorrow’ is a hazy notion and for the 39 million people worldwide who are blind due to avoidable conditions, the future is even more uncertain.
This World Sight Day, Sight For All is calling for our supporters to Look Forward, past 2020 and the challenges it has thrown our way. We ask our supporters to Look Forward to the impact we can make to fight blindness, together.

The Michael and Joan Tallis Endowment, a sub-fund of the Australian Philanthropic Services Foundation was established by Lindy Tallis in memory of her parents to fund, amongst other things, medical research in ophthalmology that aims to identify and treat eye related disease that compromises vision or causes blindness.
Dr George Michael Tallis (10 August 1931 – 21 February 2017), known as Michael, had a magnificent career as a statistician with a special expertise in medical statistics. He suffered from impaired vision all his life, empathised with those people who face the loss of sight and understood the impact that research can have on individual lives. Michael’s wife Joan (6 November 1929 – 29 June 2015) was hugely supportive of Michael’s endeavours throughout his career. The endowment also funds research into cancer, research scholarships and other initiatives aimed at improving the lives of others.
The donation to Sight for All is to fund collaborative eye health projects in Australia and developing countries including research, infrastructure support, sustainable education, the promotion of eye health and training of eye specialists.
